Experts sensitised farmers about the benefits of soil testing

Nyalkal: An awareness camp on soil testing was organised for farmers at Shamshallapur, Hoselli villages in Nyalkal mandal on Monday. Soil testing expert of DDS, KVK E Swamy sensitised the farmers about the use of soil testing. He explained them that the types of fertilisers can be decided based on the quality of the soil.
He said that 8 or more samples should be collected from their fields to get the soil tested. Swamy said that the land, seed and water are the three investments for cultivation. He advised them to use fertilisers required for particular crop to avoid unnecessary expenditure. He exhorted them to follow the instructions of agriculture officials to get good harvest.
Initiating cultivation without soil test will lead to losses, he warned. Swamy said that he has been conducting awareness camps on soil test in 44 villages for the last 20 days. Women farmers in large numbers attended the camp.
