Charminar: Politicians of different political parties from the Old City met Joint Chief Electoral Officer Amrapali Kata on Monday to discuss various issues of their concern. She assured them that their grievances would be addressed in the updated voter list and asked them to ensure that everyone enrols before the last date of voter registration on January 25.
Speaking to The Hans India, Deputy Commissioner (Charminar) P Saralamma said that they discussed various issues related to the proper enrolment process. During the meeting, Joint CEO asked the officials to speed up the process of enrolment and to ensure that all the genuine voters get registered with the Election Commission of India. “The leaders asked the official to ensure that past mistakes are not repeated, and that the voters should not get disappointed on the day of polling.
Earlier, some discrepancies cropped in as the registration was taken up at a massive level and in ensuring that the process serves its intended purpose. But now, the applications should be properly submitted with all the required formalities,” she added.
According to the leaders who attended the meeting, several issues have come to the fore in the lengthy meeting. TDP’s Greater Hyderabad Minority Vice President Mohammed Ahmed said that he brought to the notice that the officials should conduct door-to-door verification to ensure no bogus votes remain in the electoral rolls.
He also referred to The Hans India report published on November 5, ‘This open plot has over dozen voters’ to the Joint CEO, based on which she had also launched action. “I asked the official to ensure that the updated voter list does not contain similar anomalies to which she responded affirmatively,” he added.
