Abdullahpurmet: Arrangements have been made in the mandal for the conduct of gram panchayat (GP) elections on January 25. The polling will be held from 7 am to 1 pm where 53 candidates for 17 GPs and 523 contestants for the 166 wards will be trying their political destiny. The voters of Balijaguda unanimously elected Burra Veera Swamy Goud as sarpanch, Uppu Suresh as upasarpanch and eight ward members. Apart from this, voters in Jafarguda village unanimously elected members for ward number 2 and ward number 7.

With this, the officials were making fool proof arrangement for the conduct of elections in 17 GPs. Returning officer Devender Reddy said that 168 polling centres were arranged in the mandal and 415 employees were deployed for the smooth conduct of polls. Accordingly, two employees for 200 voters, three for 300 and four employees for 400 voters have been deployed. He appealed to the people to utilise their right to vote.
