Khammam: The death of a pregnant woman created tension at a local hospital in Khammam on Tuesday as the relatives of the dead woman staged a protest seeking action against the hospital staff who they alleged were responsible for the death of the woman.

According to sources, Guguloth Uma, a 28-year-old woman from Perumandla Sankisa Bodrai Thanda of Doranal mandal was brought to the Jeevan Hospitals in Khammam for delivery by her husband, Guguloth Ravi, on Sunday.

As the condition of the woman worsened, the doctors at the Jeevan Hospitals advised her family members to shift her to Warangal or Hyderabad. When the kin were shifting her MGM hospital in Warangal, she breathed her last.

The enraged relatives accused the hospital staff of negligence and staged a dharna in front of the hospital along with the woman’s body. They stated that the doctors have asked them to shift the woman to another hospital hiding the death of the foetus in the womb.

Meanwhile, the Tuesday incident is third such one in the district. The Jeevan Hospital in Khammam belongs to Khammam city Mayor Dr Papalal.
