Vemulawada: In view of the 3-day Maha Shivaratri jatara of Raja Rajeswara Swamy at Vemulawada from March 3 to 5, the district police are keeping an eagle eye vigilance on the town from Thursday.

Rajanna Sircilla district SP Rahul Hegde said that 1,597 police personnel were deployed in the town to provide security to the devotees. He reviewed safety steps taken up of the ensuing jatara here on Thursday.

Six DSPs were deployed and 21 Circle Inspectors and 97 Sub-Inspectors will work. Along with them, 231 Assistant SIs, head constables, 547 male constables, 34 women police, 120 district guards, 479 home guards (M), and 62 women home guards will be pressed into service for bandobast. High technology cameras were fixed, the SP added.

The SP inspected the platform for performing cultural programmes during jatara. Temple EO Doosa Rajeshwer, PRO U Chandrashekar, DSP
Venkataramana, CI Venkata Swamy and others accompanied the SP.
