Mecca Masjid Society gets new office-bearers
New office bearers have been elected for the Mecca Masjid Society for the year, 201921 and their names were declared here on Sunday Senior advocate Ghulam Yazdani was declared as president while Dr Md Iqbal Jaweed, who earlier served as secretary earlier was elected vicepresident
Charminar: New office bearers have been elected for the Mecca Masjid Society for the year, 2019-21 and their names were declared here on Sunday. Senior advocate Ghulam Yazdani was declared as president while Dr Md Iqbal Jaweed, who earlier served as secretary earlier was elected vice-president.
Amongst others, Md Nayeem Sofi was elected as working president, Nayeemullah Shareef as secretary, Azmathullah Siddique as joint secretary, Yusuf Baig as treasurer and Ashraf Rafi, Faizunnisa, Khaja Moizuddin, SYED Ameerullah Hussaini Aleem and Zahooruddin were elected as members.
Speaking to The Hans India, Iqbal Jaweed said that after holding elections to the new body and declaration of results, there is lot of excitement amongst the members to serve the Society with more enthusiasm. He said that repair works of the library under the society located near Mecca Masjid would now be taken up more seriously and completed within few months. “On every Sunday we conduct lectures on Islamic heritage and interactive session on health in the library,” he added.
He also said that the Committee runs a library, a clinic and conducts lectures in the library hall during Sundays. The Abul Kalam Azad Oriental Research Institute, located inside Public Gardens also runs under the auspices of this Committee. “Our programmes include coordination with the government, Finance Commission and Waqf Board. Whenever any advice is required, the Committee will provide, including in the issue of Mecca Masjid works,” he added.
It may be mentioned here that Abul Kalam Azad Oriental Research Institute in coordination with Idara-e-Adabiyat-e-Urdu for the first time organised calligraphy competitions at the research institute on a big scale on February 18. The objective of the competition was to inculcate the age-old art form amongst the young students. Students not only from from different branches of the City TMREIS (Telangana Minority Residential Educational Institutions Society), but also students from other private schools and seminaries took part.
Some 20 calligraphy enthusiasts including students, unani and physiotherapy practitioners, who were waiting for an opportunity to present their art, also put in their best efforts. Later, the best of the calligraphy works chosen were displayed in the form of exhibition at the Institute.
