Hyderabad: Telangana TRANSCO and GENCO Chairman and Managing Director D Prabhakar Rao took strong exception to AP government’s false claim that the T-State owes Rs 5,000 crore to AP power utilities. The official dared the AP power utilities to come for an open debate to resolve the issue.He also strongly objected the complaint lodged by AP government with National Company of Law Tribunal (NCLT) on the dues without verifying the facts.

Addressing the press here, the head of the State Energy department said that the AP government is indebted to Telangana. Under AP Reorganisation Act, amount receivable from AP Discoms to Telangana Discoms is Rs 1,659 crore. The AP Transco has to pay Rs 101 crore to Telangana Transco and AP Genco will have to pay Rs 3,096 crore to Telangana.

The amount receivable from AP power utilities to Telangana power utilities towards investments in Krishnapatnam power plant is Rs 929 crore. In all, AP owes Rs 5,785 crore to Telangana. The amount payable to APGenco by TS Discoms towards power purchase is only Rs 3,379 crore. After settling the accounts, the net amount receivable from AP to Telangana power utilities is Rs 2,406 crore.

AP is claiming that TS Discoms have to pay about Rs 5,000 crore to AP Genco towards the power supplied to Telangana. The official said that TS Discoms have to get Rs 2,406 crore after adjusting the dues. He also said that the AP power utilities have not responded to the request of the TS utilities to settle the issues amicably by adjusting the APGENCO power bills against the payables of AP power utilities to TS power utilities.
