DigVisakhapatnam: Mr Digvijay Singh, All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary and in-charge of State Congress affairs, inaugurated a spacious five-storey building housing the Kshatriya Samkshema Samithi, called 'ASR Bhavan', here on Sunday. The building is donated by Sri Alluri Sita Rama Raju, a prominent industrialist, in memory of his parents. Kshatriya Samkshema Samithi is doing yeoman service to society at large, through various welfare and service activities. It conducts medical camps, extends financial assistance for marriages and renders medical aid to the poor and also involves in granting scholarships to the needy and meritorious students. Vegesna Foundation (India) has been extending financial support to a large extent which enables the Samithi to operate the scheme. Apart from scholarships, the Samithi selectively arranges sponsors for adopting meritorious students. The Samithi will also be starting a training-cum-counselling centre for imparting academic and employable skills to students and organisational and managerial skills for youth this year.
It was TSR show all the way
It was a TSR show all the way at the Vizag airport. Rajya Sabha member T Subbarami Reddy's supporters came in large numbers, holding placards and putting up 'Diggy-TSR' banners. The airport reverberated with slogans supporting TSR. It was a show of strength to impress the man in-charge of Congress affairs in Andhra Pradesh. Mr Digvijay Singh's private visit to Vizag, the first by a Delhi man holding the charge of the State Congress affairs, in recent times saw a stampede-like situation. Samaikya Andhra JAC leaders and other Congress ministers supporting a unified State scrambled to submit memorandums and representations for a united Andhra Pradesh. My Digvijay Singh patiently received all the representations and said, "I will take up the issue with the high command", obviously referring to the Telangana issue. When the media tried to ask him some questions on the same subject, he said that this was not the right platform to address the issue as he was on a visit.
