TK Chand is chairman of CSI Vizag chapter

Visakhapatnam: Mr TK Chand, Director (Commercial), Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) and immediate past chairman, CII-Vizag, was elected new chairman of CSI Visakhapatnam Chapter at its annual general meeting here on Friday. The secretary presented details of the activities and events conducted last year and the treasurer presented the statement of accounts.

In his speech soon after assuming charge, he spoke of CSI, its organisational structure and the importance of its existence.

Mr Chand said, “The chapter at Visakhapatnam is one of the most active and happening chapters of CSI and it is our responsibility to take forward computerisation in all aspects not only for the convenience of everyone but also for achieving optimum transparency and efficiency in productivity.”

He announced that the 48th Annual Convention of the Computer Society of India would be held in Visakhapatnam from December 13 to 15. Experts of national and international fame would attend the event. CSI Vizag would act as a catalyst to make the programme fruitful. Two prestigious awards – CSI e-Governance Award and CSI Award for Excellence in IT – would be given away at the event.

Mr Chand expressed concern over the weakening of the rupee. However, he advised the industry to consider this as a window of opportunity as imported goods would be costlier and there would be a sudden increase in demand for domestic goods.

Mr PC Mahapatra, Executive Director (Projects), RINL, was appointed vice-chairman of the chapter.
