Efforts on to organise book fair in Warangal: MLA Vinay Bhasker
For the past few years, plans have been made to organise the fair but to some logistic issues it could not be arranged. If the organisers of Hyderabad Book Fair Society extend their cooperation, a book fair would be conducted in Warangal next year, the MLA said.
Warangal: Efforts were being made to organise a book fair on the lines of Hyderabad Book Fair, said Warangal (West) MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhasker.
For the past few years, plans have been made to organise the fair but to some logistic issues it could not be arranged. If the organisers of Hyderabad Book Fair Society extend their cooperation, a book fair would be conducted in Warangal next year, the MLA said.
Vinay Bhasker has on Thursday inaugurated a stall by ‘Topudi Bandi’ organiser Sheik Sadiq Ali at the 30th Hyderabad Book Fair being held at Telangana Kalabharathi (NTR Stadium) in Hyderabad by Hyderabad Book Fair Society along with department of language and culture.
Speaking on the occasion, he said it was Library Movement that helped liberation of Telangana region from Nizams rule. Ravichettu Ranga Rao, Kaloji Naranayna Rao, Dasharathi brothers have promoted the movement and book reading in region.
He congratulated Sadiq Ali for promoting book reading by setting up libraries in rural areas. Recalling his days prior to becoming MLA, Vinay Bhasker said he used to spend most of his time in book reading and used to visit book fairs in Hyderabad and other places.
He urged the public in the State to visit the book fair along with family members and to buy books. ‘It is the greatest contribution a
person could make for his family’s well being. My father used to buy books for all in our family,’ he added. Vinay Bhasker stressed on the need to promote Telugu books and thus honour the mother tongue.
