He participated in ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ programme at Zilla Parishad High School in Medapalli village in Jagtial district on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said small mistakes done with negligence may lead to major health issues. So, it is everyone’s responsibility to maintain the surroundings neat and clean. Besides maintaining Swachhata is also a service to society.

Every house must be equipped with toilet and must be utilised. The garbage generated in houses must not be discarded in their surroundings and must not allow the water to get stagnated in surroundings, he advised.

By constructing Individual Sanitary Latrine (ISL) and using it, maintaining personal cleanliness along with harvesting the rain water by constructing soak pits and using it judicially will help to build the healthy society, Sharath suggested.

Highly qualified teachers were appointed in government schools, who will provide quality education to students. The parents must admit their children in government schools, he suggested.

The people must utilise various welfare schemes introduced by the government for the economic development of all sections of people along with visiting government hospitals for normal deliveries to get the benefits provided by the government, he advised.

People must take initiation for planting the saplings. By increasing the green cover, plenty of rainfall can be witnessed in future along with pure air and atmosphere.

Later, Collector Dr A Sharath released a songs CD designed on ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ and handed over mementos to the winners of Rangoli competitions organised on the occasion and planted saplings.

DRDA Project Director J Aruna Sri, Assistant Project Directors Lakshminarayana, Sundar Varadarajan, MPDO Hari Kishan, tahsildar Venkatesh, MPP Jamuna, Sarpanch Raja Goud and MPTC Shankar were present along with others.
