Hanamkonda: The contribution of the police cannot be measured, Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu said, flagging off the publicity vehicle meant for canvassing the sacrifices of the Indian police forces.

It may be noted here that the Telangana Police is organising its 2nd Indian Police Martyrs Memorial Run (IPMMR) remembering the brave personnel, who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty on October 15, ahead of the Police Commemoration Week from October 15 to October 21.

The event will start at Peoples Plaza, Necklace Road, Hyderabad in which around 8,000 participants from all walks of life will join the Memorial Run in 3 categories – 2-K, 5-K and 10-K.

Stating that the run is organised to pay tributes to martyrs of the entire police force of the country, Sudheer Babu said that people’s support will boost the spirit of those families, who lost their loved ones.

One of the four publicity vehicles launched for the campaign has reached Hanamkonda on Monday. India women cricket team captain Mithali Raj, who is supporting the event, had flagged off the vehicles in Hyderabad on September 28.

The police department launched a website, Facebook and Twitter pages for the registration of participants. Police martyrs’ families, DCPs Venugopal Rao and Ismail, ACPs Vidyasagar, Sadanandam, Prabhakar and R Nagaiah were among others present.

In another programme at Madikonda police training centre, the CP paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of his 148th birth anniversary. Later, he planted saplings and took part in cleanliness drive.
