Peddapalli: Mini Libraries will be established for the convenience of the students, Raghuveer Singh, the Chairman of Libraries said during a review meeting here on Friday. He discussed the present situation of libraries present in the district and about conducting week-long celebrations of libraries in the district, with District Educational Officer and MEOs of various mandals at Mandal Parishad Office.
The Chairman said that week-long celebrations from November 14 to 20 would be organised on the occasion of successful completion of 50 years of establishment of libraries in the district. Libraries are the source that provides enormous knowledge to various sections of people, especially to students. Awareness must be created among the students for spending at least some time in libraries every day, he suggested.
In coordination with the education department, ‘Mini libraries’ will be established for the convenience of students across the district. AS part of the week-long celebrations of libraries, several programmes such as painting, books exhibition, elocution and essay writing competitions will be organised along with other events for the students from school to degree-level of various educational institutions from November 14.
The MEOs must take the initiation by creating awareness among the students for participating in the various events organised on the occasion along with sending the list of the students by selecting five members from each institution, accompanied by one teacher, Raghuveer Singh suggested.
The officials of education department must submit the list of the books that are not available in school libraries along with those essential for the students. By investing funds, either from the government or from his own, the books that are needed will be purchased for the development of libraries present across the district. Prizes and memontos and appreciation certificate will be handed over to the students, who will win in the competitions.
The Chairman of Libraries urged all the officials to cooperate for making the celebrations a grand success. District Educational Officer Venkateshwar Rao, secretary of District Library T Sri Latha and MEOs of various mandals were present along with others.
