Mancherial: Tension prevailed at Indaram village when the villagers, demanding better compensation package, on Wednesday obstructed the railway track works on the village outskirts to supply coal to the Singareni Power Plant at Jaipur of Mancherial district.

While the government officials have been promising the displaced persons compensation as per the relevant GO, the displaced persons have been demanding the government better compensation package. The officials have acquired 58.31 acres in Indaram, Tekumatla and Ramaraopeta villages in Jaipur mandal. A notification has been issued on February 17, 2017 to acquire lands and completed the public opinion also.

Demanding jobs in the thermal power plant in addition to the compensation, the villagers have obstructing railway track laying works since some time. The officials were accused of pulling down 26 houses overnight to lay the track without paying a single paisa as compensation.

The displaced persons alleged that the SCCL and government officials have been resorting to vindictive measures as they demanded one job to each affected family. They found fault with the officials for pulling down their houses over night and termed it as atrocious. They threatened to intensify their agitation if justice was not done to them.
