Jagtial: Procurement of foodgrains produced during Kharif has been speeded up through 133 Indira Kranti Patham (IKP) and 127 Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS) present across the district, Joint-Collector B Rajesham informed. The J-C visited the call centre that was established at the District and Rural Development Office for procuring foodgrains produced during Kharif, in Jagtial on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the J-C said all basic arrangements were made at the purchasing centres to avoid any inconvenience to the farmers. About 6,23,143.48 quintals of foodgrains, worth Rs 99.08 crores, were purchased through IKP purchasing centres and about 5,93,782.6 quintals of foodgrains, worth Rs 94.4 crores, were purchased through PACS from farmers till Wednesday, he informed.

Necessary steps were also taken for uploading up-to-date details of foodgrains’ purchases through IKP and PACS and allotting foodgrains to rice mills and solving issues that arise at the time of purchasing of foodgrains with the officials, Rajesham explained. General Manager of Civil Supply Department Jithendar Prasad accompanied the J-C during his visit to the call centre.
