Warangal: A memorial of former premier Pamulaparti Venkata Narasimha Rao is soon going to come up at his birth place, Lakinepally near Narsampet in Warangal Rural district.

The former premier took birth at the house of his grandmother at Lakinepally village on June 28, 1921. He was adopted at the age of three years by PV Ranga Rao and Ratnabaimma from his parents PV Sitarama Rao and Rukmabaimma and was taken to Vangara of Bhimadevarpally, which was once in Karimnagar district and now in Warangal Urban district.

In order to commemorate his connection with the village, Surabhi Educational Society, founded by PV’s daughter S Vani Devi and her husband S Dayakar Rao, has decided to build a memorial at the house, where he took birth.

Speaking to The Hans India, Vani Devi here on Friday informed that they intended to develop the place into a tourist spot. “Initially we planned to build a memorial on 500 sq yards land of the house. Later it is decided to acquire another 500 sq yards land to build a spacious memorial, which will useful to people.”

“We are planning to establish a library and a clinic at the memorial for the use of common public. The bhoomi puja performed recently and after acquiring the additional land the works will begin,” she added. Meanwhile, the followers and PV’s family members asked the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) to name a road in Warangal city after Narasimha Rao as a mark of respect to the leader and to remember his association with Warangal, where he spent his student days.

Name 100 ft road between Kazipet and KU after PV
PV’s family member PV Madanmohan informed that after the death of the former premier in 2004, the corporation has passed a resolution to name the 100 ft road passing through Kazipet to Kakatiya University after the former Prime Minister. But it has not come into effect till date.

Meanwhile, the city Congress working president Rajanala Srihari complained that the party’s demand to the TRS government to name any of the new districts in Karimnagar or Warangal has not delivered even after one year passed by since the formation of new districts.

He asked the district administration to name an Indoor Stadium at JNS Grounds in Hanamkonda after Narasimha Rao as a mark of reverence to him. “I have given petitions to Warangal Urban Collector and Rajya Sabha Member V Lakshmikantha Rao of TRS one year ago, but still there is no action,” he lamented.
