Warangal: The city Congress leaders have demanded Health Minister C Laxma Reddy for establishing additional dialysis units at MGM Hospital (MGMH) in Warangal. The city Congress working president Rajanala Srihari along with several others submitted a memorandum to MGMH Superintendent Dr D Ramesh on Wednesday in connection with their demand.

Later speaking to presspersons, Srihari alleged that at present only one dialysis unit, set up during Congress rule, has been functioning and it was not able to meet the needs of the ever-growing patients. As a result, large numbers of patients from poor and middle-class background suffering from kidney related ailments were deprived of treatment.

It was sad that the MGMH being the second largest government hospital in the State is having a single dialysis unit. The Health Minister, Laxma Reddy, during his previous visit to the hospital, has promised to set up additional units but no steps were taken in that connection, he complained.

Similarly, CT scanning and MRI scanning, which were being offered through private players must be stopped. The government must set up CT scanning and MRI scanning units and offer the services free of cost to the patients, he demanded.

Srihari, while alleging that the TRS government has been neglecting the hospital, demanded the Health Minister to take immediate steps to appoint doctors in all super-specialty wings at the hospital and streamline drug dispensing through the pharmacy counters, which were not functioning effectively.

The Congress leader also demanded the government initiation of measures to regularise the services of contract employees and to clear the pending wages of sanitation and security workers serving at the hospital. The party leaders Manda Vinod Kumar, Kurathota Sadanandam, Rahath Parveena, Md. Ayub Khan, Ch Venkateshwarlu and others were present.
