Hanamkonda: The District Collector’s camp office at Subedari in Hanamkonda has come alive with merriment that is dotted by bright lighting and colourful floral decorations on Friday.

Warangal Urban District Collector Amrapali Kata, who married an IPS officer Sameer Sarma recently, has thrown her marriage reception party to local officials, leaders, media and friends.

It is said that in the 131 years history of the district collectorate, it is the first marriage reception celebrated. Amrapali, who is the first Collector of the newly carved out Warangal Urban district, is also the first Collector to get married while in service here.

Huge number of VIPs turned up at the reception party to greet the newlywed couple. Rajya Sabha member V Lakshmikantha Rao, E Dayakar Rao, D Vinay Kumar, Ch Dharma Reddy, Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu, Karimnagar District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed are among those greeted the couple.

TNGOs Union leaders P Subba Rao, K Ravinder Reddy, K Rajesh Kumar Goud, TUWJ state organising secretary Pinna Shiva Kumar and many others have also attended the reception and greeted Amrapali and Sameer.

Cultural programmes like Perini dance, classical music recitation and others highlighted the party. Earlier on the day, the couple visited historic Bhadrakali Temple along with family members to offer special prayers. The temple main priest B Sheshahiri Rao invited them in a tradition manner and conducted prayers.
