Karimnagar: District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed directed the officials of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) not to use milk packets which are expired in Anganwadi centres and return them immediately to the dairy farms from they are brought.

A review meeting was held by the Collector with ICDS supervisors to discuss about the milk packets that are sent by Vijaya Dairy to Anganwadi centres here at his chamber in the Collectorate in Karimnagar on Friday.

Addressing the meeting, the Collector said from February onwards, the milk packets were sent to Anganwadi centres from Vijaya Dairy as per the Indent sent to ICDS supervisors through online.

He directed the supervisors to submit complete details to the District Welfare Officer after conducting a review meeting in the last week of every month, taking the signature from the Anganwadi teachers about how many litres of milk was required for 40 days and enroll online.

He informed that milk packets which would be supplied to Anganwadi centres should be checked thoroughly including details such as manufacturing and expiry dates and must store the milk packets which required for 40 days and return extra packets and those were leaking.

He urged the representatives of Vijay Diary to print the expiry date in bold letters on milk packet cartons so that the Anganwadi teachers could recognise it easily. Separate register should be maintained to keep the list such as number of milk packets received, milk packets used, number of milk packets given to mothers everyday along with other information, he said.

District Welfare Officer Sharadha, Huzurabad officer Gangadhar, Karimnagar Urban and Rural Child Development and Protection Officers Ch Sharadha, M Kasthuri, Naseem Jamaal and Sabitha were present in the meeting.
