Probe into prisoner’s death ordered

It might be noted that the prisoner has died on April 18, 2013 in a suspicious manner and the incident caused much tension as the relatives of deceased person have brought his body in auto-rickshaw and staged a demonstration in front of the jail.

Warangal: District collector G Kishan has ordered a magisterial enquiry into the death of an under trial prisoner lodged at Warangal central jail and called Dharavath Somla Naik. It might be noted that the prisoner has died on April 18, 2013 in a suspicious manner and the incident caused much tension as the relatives of deceased person have brought his body in auto-rickshaw and staged a demonstration in front of the jail.
He belongs to Gundlasingaram village in Hanamkonda mandal and was arrested by the Excise police on April 16, 2013. He was accused of selling illicitly distilled liquor and was remanded to custody on the same day. Somla Naik was released from the jail on bail on April 18 and died as soon as he reached his home. His wife Kamala accused the jail authorities of beating him severely causing his death after his release and demanded a probe into the issue.
Following which the magisterial enquiry was ordered into the issue by the District Collector. The enquiry would be conducted on August 31 at 11 am by Warangal revenue divisional officer in his office. Those concerned could present their arguments along with documentary evidence.
