In the past, correction of name or address in the ration card used to move at a snail's pace, but through Mee Seva centres, it has become easier, faster and more accessible now eluruEluru (West Godavari): District Supply Officer (DSO) Lakshmi Narayana has said that the West Godavari district administration was adopting new methods to provide speedy and efficient justice to consumers. He asked the people to benefit from the new methods. Lakshmi Narayana was the chief guest at the consumer associations meet organised on the occasion of World Consumer Rights Day at the Collectorate here on Friday. "In the past, correction of name or address in the ration card used to move at a snail's pace, but through Mee Seva centres, it has become easier, faster and more accessible now," the DSO said. Plans are afoot for issual of Aadhaar cards also in the same way by providing the card number through online, he informed. "Consumers activism has been going well in the district. Only when officials and he association representatives work in tandem, we can provide better services to the consumers," he said. The 'Na Ration' programme being conducted by Joint Collector Dr T Baburao Naidu to address the civil supplies related problems of the people has been receiving great response, he said. Special teams have been assigned to tackle the LPG related problems of the consumers, he added. To make people aware of the frauds being indulged in petrol bunks, awareness centres for consumers would be set up near petrol bunks, he said. District Civil Supplies Manager Salim Khan lauded the consumer associations for their contribution to the welfare of consumers and requested officials and association representatives to work in coordination. Consumer association leaders Shankar, Ansari, G Anand Rao, K Venkata Reddy, Bobbili Bangaraiah, Ramesh Babu and Udaya Bhaskar among others who spoke on the occasion sought relentless drive against adulteration and frauds in weights and measurements. Eluru Civil Supplies Deputy Tahsildar LV Sagar, Food Security Officer Y Panduranga Rao and District Weights and Measurements Inspector Surya Narayana among others participated in the meeting.
