YCRCP organises bus yatra for Samaikyandhra; Advocates’ relay fast continues

Rajahmundry: Samaikyandhra agitation is going strong in East Godavari district. Women employees used the auspicious occasion of ‘Varalakshmi Vratham’ as a platform to demonstrate their anger against the bifurcation of the State. Women employees of APNGOs and Municipal Corporation offered prayers on roads instead of temples and houses on Friday.

About 820 buses in nine depots in the district were not taken out as the strike of RTC employees in support of Samaikyandhra was continuing. About 4,332 RTC employees from National Mazdoor Union (NMU), Employees’ Union and United Workers’ Union were on strike. Tension prevailed at Rajahmundry RTC Complex on Friday when some staff members wanted to join duty. The leaders Political Joint Action Committee (JAC) and Non-Political JAC rushed to the RTC Complex appealed to them not to join the duties but in vain. The Political JAC members conducted mock funeral rites to an effigy of those employees who wanted to join the duty on the complex premises.

Women employees of Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation (RMC) performed ‘Varalakshmi Vratam’ in front of the Corporation office. Purohits conducted pujas and women offered prayers. Rajahmundry Municipal Commissioner V Rajendra Prasad, Deputy Commissioner Ravindra and Joint Action Committee leaders participated in the event. Women employees of APNGOs observed ‘Varalakshmi Vratam’ in front of Rajahmundry Sub-Collector office on Friday.

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) cadres organised a bus yatra in Rajahmundry Parliamentary constituency limits on the call given by the party leadership. The bus yatra was organised under the aegis of MLC Adireddi Appa Rao, YSRCP Parliamentary constituency in-charge Boddu Bhaskar Rama Rao, Rajahmundry city convenor Bommana Rajkumar and Rajahmundry rural convenor Akula Veerraju. The relay hunger strikes taken up the advocates were continuing for the 16th day on Friday. At Amalapuram, protest rallies were continuing and government employees were participating in the agitation in a full-fledged manner. Relay hunger strikes were continuing at Gadiyaram Centre in Amalapuram.

Cable operators’ rally
Razole: Siti Cable operators belonging to Razole on Friday took out a motorcycle rally from Sakinetipally to Mamidikuduru in protest against the decision to divide the State. The agitators took out the procession via Razole and Malkipuram.
