VijayammaYSR Congress party has demanded the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) to review the top 20 percentile norm in the JEE advanced and the weightage norm for the JEE Mains. Rend justice to the IIT aspirants from Andhra Pradesh who were denied admissions under the new system this year. The party honorary President YS Vijayamma on Friday shot off a letter to Union minister for HRD urging him to find out alternative norms in the place of the new system. In her letter, she said that the top 20 percentile yardstick which has replaced the earlier 60 percent marks in the Intermediate Examination , the cut-off marks for general category students in AP stands at 91.88 percent, which is very higher compared to other states. In some states, the cut-off marks percentage stand at 53.6 per cent. It is really a matter of serious concern for the students. The weightage norm in the JEE main exam was also strongly objectionable; Vijayamma said the new system meted out injustice to students of the state. The normalisation process of marks achieved in the Intermediate course and the weightage norms should always be in such a way to render justice to the talents of the students, she added.
