Job notifications to be further delayed

• No assurance from Chief Minister

The aspirants urged Chief Minister to ensure immediate release of Group I and II notifications well before the bifurcation bill is tabled in the Parliament

For the second consecutive day, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy declined to give a concrete assurance to the unemployed youth who met him at the Camp office in Hyderabad on the release of employment notifications which are due in July-August. The Chief Minister, who shied away from going to Secretariat due to the surcharged atmosphere there, has been discharging duties from the camp office for the last five days. The aspirants urged him to ensure immediate release of Group I and II notifications and requested him to do it well before the bifurcation bill is tabled in the Parliament.

The AP Public Service Commission has recently written a letter to the government requesting it to give a direction for the process to be started. Though the Commission does not need any specific direction as it is the usual process and even some among them have been cleared a few months back, it felt it necessary in the wake of recent political developments. As the applications, written test, interviews and sending offer letters. All this processes take nearly a year, the Commission felt that if at any stage, any impediment occurs; the entire exercise may go waste. “We want to take adequate precautions and that’s why we want clear direction from the government” a senior official of the Commission said.

On the other hand, the General Administration wing is also unable to act on the letter. The letter is pending with the Chief Secretary who has reportedly not taken up the matter with the Chief Minister because of his preoccupations. Senior officials were learnt to have suggested that it’s better to refer the matter to the legal and Constitutional experts.

“There is no harm in releasing the notifications now as zonal system is already in practice. The commission can put a rider that in any eventuality, they should be prepared to work anywhere in any of the present 23 districts” a former member said. The Presidential Order of 1975 has now come under special study now along with revisiting the six-point formula and the governmental orders which were issued thirty seven years back.

There is a great anxiety and apprehension among thousands of unemployed youth in all the three regions of the state. “We fear that the process would not take off at all in this atmosphere of uncertainty. We don’t know what would happen after the division. There is darkness everywhere for us,” DK Gupta of Kakinada, who came to camp office on Tuesday worried.

“It is the duty of the Union Government to clear the air since it has poured cold water on the aspirations. The Union Ministers representing the state shall take the lead in this regard. Division or no division, the normal work shall go as usual,” Jagadeeshwar Reddy, Director of AP Academy, which coaches hundreds of students every year, opined.
