WhatsApp new feature will allow users to listen to a voice message from the notification menu itself.

Facebook-owned WhatsApp has made our lives more comfortable, and we cannot deny that our dependency is increasing day by day. The messaging and calling app is testing a new feature. This latest feature will allow users to listen to a voice message from the notification menu itself, without opening the entire message. The new feature is under progress and is currently being tested for iOS users only. WhatsApp already allows us to preview messages, including messages that contain videos and images in the notifications without opening the app.

The preview for voice messages is similar to a regular WhatsApp message preview— it displays name of the sender and a line from the text sent along with the voice message.

The feature was first spotted by a website dedicated to new WhatsApp features, WABetaInfo. A few days ago the tracker posted a tweet with a screenshot of the new feature.

There has been no news on when the new feature will be available for Android users. Though, as per the beta tester, the feature will possibly be part of a significant update and will be available along with some other features.

In the meantime, WhatsApp is also testing another feature that will allow users to edit media files that have been shared on the application. The feature is being tested on both platforms, Android and iOS. The announcement date of this 'Quick edit' feature has also not been finalised.
