JioFiber Connection Offers Jio Set-Top Box For Free

Just like a few other Jio products, there is a lot of confusion surrounding the Jio set-top box. There is no clarity about the plans or the price of the service, and that could hint two things: either the company is not yet clear about its future plans for the set-top box or is silently executing a test run of the service.

There are a couple of media reports on the web that claim that the service is available to many users and offers more than 150 live TV channels. Still, nothing has been confirmed by the company.

Now with every JioFiber connection, the Jio set-top box comes free. Consumers do not have to request the device separately. The company charges Rs 2500 at the time of installation of JioFiber, of which Rs 1000 is the installation charge and the rest Rs 1500 is the security deposit. You can return the set-top box at any time if you are not satisfied with the service.

As for the inclusions of the JioFiber connection, the JioFiber broadband connection is included with a fixed-line connection without the device and a Jio set-top box. The Jio set-top box is different from the conventional set-top box in terms of how it pairs with your TV. The Jio set-top box converts an ordinary TV into a smart TV using its given functionalities.

Earlier there were rumours that the Jio set-top box would come preinstalled with the JioTV app and offer more than 650 live TV channels, but this is not the case, as of now. As an alternative, the Jio set-top box turns your TV into a smart TV by running third-party OTT applications such as Hotstar, Zee5 and likewise.

There is no separate dedicated page for Jio's set-top box plans. To understand the plans, check this link https://www.jio.com/fiber/en-in/plans and at the bottom of the table, you will see a mention of the set-top box that is included in all JioFiber plans. So, that means the set-top box will be free any plan you choose. The Bronze and Silver plans are valid for 3 months, while the rest of the plans offer an annual subscription. With the Bronze plan, you get access only to the JioCinema and JioSaavn applications. The Silver, Gold, Diamond, Platinum and Titanium plans offer a subscription to a variety of OTT applications.

Note that at present Jio does not offer access to Jio TV apps through the set-top box, which means that subscribers will have to take a separate cable connection to access normal TV channels like ZEE, Sony and others.JioFiber, Jio TV apps, Jio set-top box, Jio TV
