1,500 kg narcotic substance seized in Nizamabad
Police and intelligence officials have seized chloral hydrate, an intoxicating and narcotic substance, worth about Rs 20 lakhs in Nizamabad on Friday.
Nizamabad: Police and intelligence officials have seized chloral hydrate, an intoxicating and narcotic substance, worth about Rs 20 lakhs in Nizamabad on Friday. Two persons were arrested in this regard.
Following a tip-off that narcotic substance chloral hydrate is being smuggled, ACP Srinivasulu, Rural Circle Inspector Raghunath and intelligence officials from Hyderabad checked vehicles near Madhav Nagar on the suburbs of Nizamabad city.
During the checking at around 1.30 am on Friday, police found 50 bags of chloral hydrate in a lorry, each bag containing 30 kgs of narcotic substance. Two persons traveling in the lorry were taken into custody. The lorry (MH09 CA 1350), which transports goods to Wal-Mart in Madhav Nagar, was brought to the police station as it is being used to transport drugs and other narcotic substances.
The accused said they were transporting drugs from Gujarat to Hyderabad. Later it's learned that the accused have confessed that Nizamabad is the centre from which the drugs will be supplied to other States.
Rural police have registered a case and investigation is on.
