As many as 170 people were taken into custody including 25 RTC workers from Secunderabad Railway Station today after the RTC JAC and opposition leaders called for the march on Tank Bund today.

As many as 170 people were taken into custody including 25 RTC workers from Secunderabad Railway Station today after the RTC JAC and opposition leaders called for the march on Tank Bund today.

The Gopalapuram police arrested 25 RTC workers who reached Secunderabad from Warangal through Bhagyanagar express to participate in the march. Besides, senior Congress leaders like Shabbir Ali, Geetha Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar were put under house arrest.

Meanwhile, the RTC workers burnt the effigy to the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in Suryapet protesting against the arrest of the workers and opposition leaders.

"Many of the RTC and opposition leaders were arrested a day of the strike," said the CP adding that a peaceful atmosphere has prevailed on the tank bund.
