Actress Sonakshi Varma fell prey to cybercrime cheaters and lost Rs 1.35 lakh. The actress approached the police and filed a complaint in Hyderabad Cybercrime police station on Wednesday.
Hyderabad: Actress Sonakshi Varma fell prey to cybercrime cheaters and lost Rs 1.35 lakh. The actress approached the police and filed a complaint in Hyderabad Cybercrime police station on Wednesday.
According to Cybercrime officials, the actress developed friendship with an unknown person through her Facebook account and was chatting with the person for the last six months.
The actress alleged that the person told her that he would sending a gift to her from Delhi. Later, a person called Sonakshi on phone and introduced self as a Customs Officer from Delhi Airport and asked her to transfer Rs 1.35 lakh into the specified account to deliver that gift to Hyderabad.
She immediately transferred the said amount into the account told by the fake officer. After transferring the amount, she waited for two days and when she did not get any gift, she tried to contact the fake customs officer on the number on which he contacted her. As she found the phone to be switched off, she realised that she was cheated and immediately approached the Hyderabad Cybercrime police station and submitted all the evidences.
