'Akka' Tamilisai to enter Telangana State as 'Chellemma' on September 11
Tamilisai Soundararajan, the newly-appointed Governor for Telangana, is likely to assume the office on September 11.
Hyderabad/Chennai: Tamilisai Soundararajan, the newly-appointed Governor for Telangana, is likely to assume the office on September 11.
Incumbent Governor ESL Narasimhan is learnt to have spoken to his successor in this regard. Apart from finding out the date when she would be taking charge, he also wished her all success in her endeavour.
Tamilisai said she is known as 'Akka' in Tamil Nadu and would be coming to Telangana as 'Chellemma'. She said she would also learn Telugu soon.
She said her appointment as Governor was a surprise for her. She said her term as president of the Tamil Nadu BJP was to end in December and when the party high command asked her for her resume, she was under the impression that they would give her some other responsibility in the party.
She thanked the party leadership for recognising her services. She said she is studying about Telangana and its issues so that she can discharge her duties smoothly as per the constitutional provisions without fear or favour.
She hoped that the people of Telangana would welcome her as their sister.
