All eyes on counting of votes : Bhongir

Bhongir/Nalgonda: District Collector Anitha Ramachndran stated that all arrangements are in place for counting of Bhongir Parliament election votes slated to be held on May 23 (Thursday).

On Tuesday, along with DCP Naryana Reddy, she spoke to media at the Collectorate in Bhongir.

Explaining the process of counting of votes, she said, the counting of votes of 7 Assembly segments of Bhongir Parliament seat will done by arranging 14 tables to each Assembly segment at the counting center.

She informed that based on number of polling centers, counting of votes of Ibrahimpatnam will be done in 23 rounds, Munugodu 22 , Bhongir 18, Nakrekal 22, Tungaturhi 23 , Aler 22 and Jangaon in 20 rounds. As many as 12,11,156 votes of 7 Assembly segments of Bhongir MP seat have to be counted on the day.

She directed the election agents to reach the counting center Arora College by 6 am as the counting of votes will start at 8 am after opening of the strong rooms in the presence of the election agents.

She informed that a counting supervisor, counting assistant, micro observers are appointed at each table, she added. As many as 117 counting supervisors, 121 counting agents, 128 micro observers are going to render their services at counting center, she informed.

Initially, counting of votes of service voters and postal ballots will be conducted at the returning officer table, she explained.

As per the Supreme Court guidelines, after counting of votes, counting of VVPATs slips of 5 EVMs of each Assembly segment will done through lottery after randomization.

Meanwhile , Rachakonda CP Mahesh Bagawath speaking to media informed that as many as 550 police personnel will be deputed at the counting center to provide tight security at counting center. Three tier security system is in place at counting center to avoid any untoward incident at the center.

Nalgonda District Collector Gaurav Uppal along with SP A Venkata Ranganath also spoke to media in Nalgonda and explained the arrangements made for the counting of votes of 7 Assembly segments of Nalgonda Parliament constituency at Nalgonda town on May 23.
