Authorities gear up for ZPTC, MPTC polls in Hanamkonda
It seems like that elections to zilla parishad and mandal territorial constituencies (ZPTC and MPTC) to follow immediately after the Lok Sabha polls.
Hanamkonda: It seems like that elections to zilla parishad and mandal territorial constituencies (ZPTC and MPTC) to follow immediately after the Lok Sabha polls. Speaking at a meeting here on Thursday, Warangal Urban District Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil said that notification for the ZPTC and MPTC elections is likely to be issued after the April 11 polling of the Parliament elections.
"There are seven ZPTC and 86 MPTC seats in Urban district limits. The administration has finalised 455 polling centres across the Urban district. As per the voter list published on February 22, the number of enrolled voters is 2.24 lakh," Patil said. However, efforts are on to include the appended list of voters (till March 25) with the permission of Election Commission, he added.
Patil said that the administration has proposed to conduct ZPTC and MPTC elections in two phases in Urban district. In the first phase, polling to four ZPTCs - Hasanparthy, Elkathurthy, Kamalapur and Bheemadevarapally – and 52 MPTC will be held. In the second phase, polling will be held in Dharmasagar, Velair and Inavole mandals.
The Collector said that 10 district-level officials would act as nodal officers to monitor the election process, in addition to presiding and assistant presiding officers. Each polling centre will be supervised by six officials.
A meeting in regard with the ZPTC and MPTC elections will be conducted with the representatives of all political parties on April 8. He directed the mandal parishad development officers (MPDOs) to distribute copies of draft polling centres to the representatives of all political parties. He told the officials to conduct a training session for presiding and assistant presiding in respective mandal headquarters on April 14.
