Mancherial: An awareness programme on Poshan Abhiyan was organised at Anganwadi centre-3 of NTPC in Mancherial on Wednesday. Poshan Abhiyan, is a Central government programme aimed at addressing the problem of malnutrition among children, adolescent girls and women.

Balamrutham is the weaning food introduced under ICDS to provide supplementary nutrition to children aged between seven months and three years. The weaning food is a preparation of wheat, chana dal, milk powder, oil and sugar. Balamrutham is distributed in packets of 2.5 kg per child per month.

Padma, the Anganwdi teacher of the Centre, created awareness on Balamrutham and its uses, how this food helps kids to grow healthy and how healthy the Anganwadi food for the children. She administered an oath by the parents that they will give the Balamrutham of Anganwadi centres to their children without fail. Anganwadi workers, children's parents and others were present at the programme.
