Bathukamma sarees to be distributed from Sep 20

The Telangana government has decided to distribute Bathukamma sarees from September 20, 2019, a week ahead of the floral festival- Bathukamma. This year, the festivities begin from September 28, 2019.
Around 1.02 crore women will be getting the sarees procured from Sircilla power looms. So far, over 50 lakh sarees have been sent to various districts and the remaining will be sent by the end of this month. The government is spending Rs 313 crore on the Bathukamma sarees which will be distributed to Women on behalf of VROs, Panchayat secretaries, Ration dealers and other women associations.
The sarees will be stored at district godowns and then will be sent to all mandals and villages by September 20.
