Speaking on the occasion, the Police Commissioner said that on October 26, seven shepherds got stuck up near Katterasala and Duggenapalli villages in Chennur mandal as Godavari River was overflowing, who went there to graze their sheep.
Following the instructions of higher authorities, ASI Nazeer and home guard S Naresh helped the shepherds to get out of the river with the help of Kolluru expert swimmers and country boats.
This incident occurred when Annaram barrage gates were lifted. The CP appreciated and rewarded Kottapalli SI Ramesh, ASI, home guard and country boat operators (expert swimmers) for saving the lives of shepherds and their sheep.
DCP Rakshitha K Murthy, Mancherial ACP CH Lakshminarayana, Jaipur ACP G Narendar, Bellampalli ACP MA Rehman and others were present.
