Hyderabad: TPCC has decided to hold year-long centenary birthday celebrations of veteran congress leader and former prime minister of the country PV Narasimha Rao. TPCC State president N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that with the issual of orders from Sonia Gandhi, year-long celebrations will be held in the memory of the late leader.

Reddy said that the Land Ceiling act introduced by PV was historic and he along with Manmohan Singh made the country's economy progress.

He further informed that they had passed a resolution demanding Bharat Ratna to PV. Remembering the time spent with the former PM, Reddy said he also accompanied the former PM during his foreign trips.

Reddy also said that they would hold protest programme against the failure of the State government in handling the Covid-19 situation in all Assembly and District headquarters on June 30 and submit memorandums to the district collectors after their programmes.

He also asked the police to not stop any of the party leaders and workers during their protest. He further said that the protest demanding the waiving of the high Electricity bills would be held on July 3.

He informed of wearing black badges and black flags as a part of their protest. He also demanded the State government to recognise the journalists as frontline warriors and give a compensation of Rs 50 lakh on their death.
