Warangal: The TSRTC employees who took part in the last rites of conductor E Ravinder at Atmakur on Sunday accused the police of highhandedness. The employees alleged that the police behaved rudely and even hit women workers.

The employees also blamed the police for overreacting when they were leading a peaceful procession at the last rites of Ravinder who died in Hyderabad after complaining chest pain on October 31.

After the police pushed and beat up the women employees, the staff staged a road blocked, demanding an apology from the police. "The police charged at us when the procession was moving peacefully. The police also beat up a worker for questioning their actions. A police officer slapped me," employee Uma said.

Against this backdrop, DCP Nagaraju tried to pacify the protestors stating that the police officer would apologise later. The police dragged the women employees into their vehicles and shifted them to Atmakur police station.
