District collector M Prashanthi called upon the newly appointed panchayat secretaries to develop villages ideally, while addressing a meeting with district rural development officials at the Collector conference hall in Nirmal on Thursday.

Prashanthi said employees should work without selfishness and commitment for the development of National Rural Employees Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), Haritha Haram, Swachh Bharath and the like while addressing a one-day orientations programme.

She instructed the newly appointed panchayat secretaries of Nirmal, Saon, Narsapur G, Kuntala, Sarangapur and Lokeshwaram panchayats.

She also told them to have awareness about government welfare schemes and natural resources of their respective villages in the field and every one's role is very crucial in village development and maintain the funds that were allotted to gram panchayats for village development.

The Collector said everyone should work efficiently for the development of villages and to follow up sanitation works regularly and setup green zones and nurseries in villages.

On 5th of every month, drainages should be cleaned. She asked them to create awareness on the need of personal toilets among the rural people and asked them to setup dumping yards by the end of July.

Officials should take care that people should not to dump garbage on roads, the Collector also instructed the officials to arrange tricycles to collect garbage in their respected gram panchayats.

Horticulture officer Sharath Babu, panchayat secretaries and others attended the meeting.
