Hyderabad: As many as eight police personnel including an inspector from the same station who were asymptomatic to coronavirus have tested positive in Hyderabad. The policemen who were working at the police station under Rachakonda police station limits underwent routine tests a few days ago and were tested positive.

They were asked to be under home quarantine and the police station was sanitized. So far, 150 police personnel in Telangana were infected with the virus.

In the wake of the police department being hit by the virus, Humayun Nagar police station introduced a few precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus. The police moved the reception area outside the building and the complainants are being asked to sanitize their hands before submitting their complaints to staffers.

On June 13, eight policemen working a police station in west zone tested positive.

Earlier, DGP Mahender Reddy also issued an advisory asking the police to take leave if they are not well. "All the officers can take leave without insisting for sanction if they are not feeling well and can isolate themselves to prevent the spread of the virus," he said.
