Peddapalli: A farmer attempted to commit suicide by climbing a water tank with a petrol bottle, over alleged injustice by revenue officials, who registered his 30 guntas of land in someone else's name. The incident took place at Ippalapally village of Srirampur mandal in the district on Wednesday.

Victim, G Satish of Ippalapally village, said that he owns 30 guntas land in his village, which has been wrongly registered by the revenue officials under some other's name. "I have been visiting Tahsildar office for the past two years, requesting the revenue officials to register my land under my name," he added.

Satish said that the officials told him that the land, which he has been claiming as his own, was registered under another person's name. Satish tried to explain the officials that it was wrongly registered on another persons' name and asked them to check and register the land on his name.

When the officials denied, Satish, vexed with the officials' apathetic behaviour, on Wednesday climbed a water tank with a petrol bottle to attempt suicide by self-immolation.

His family members and locals observed him climbing the water tank and immediately informed police, who in turn informed Tahsildar Sunitha about the situation.

After Tahsildar Sunitha assured of solving his problem, Satish came down.
