Suryapet: Chappidi Krishnaiah, farmer from Kodandaramapuram of Munagala mandal, attempted suicide by consuming pesticides while explaining his problem to District Collector T Vinay Krishna Reddy during Prajavani programme at Suryapet Collectorate on Monday.
According to sources, the farmer took the extreme step as Munagala Tahsildar office staff were not addressing his land encroachment issue for the past three years. Krishnaiah was reportedly fed up with the attitude of revenue officials of Munagala and attended prajavani programme. While explaining the mental trauma he faced for the past three years due to the negligence of the officials, he attempted suicide.
Collector Vinay Krishna Reddy was shocked and pulled the pesticide bottle from the farmer's hand. He shifted the unconscious farmer to Government Hospital in the car of Additional Collector. The health condition of the farmer was said to be critical.
