Peddapalli: Focus on maintenance of sanitation in villages, District Collector Sikta Patnaik said during gram sabha at Garrepalli village on Sunday. She participated in Palle Pragathi programme on Saturday night.

The officials informed the Collector that four tricycles have been purchased, which are collecting garbage from the village and construction works of graveyards have been taken up, which will be completed within 15 days. The Collector ordered them to purchase a tractor and tanker for better functioning of village panchayat.

Deriving inspiration from Palle Pragathi conducted in the past and continue the same spirit in the villages by maintaining roads, government offices and other places neat and clean. Stating that still some constructions in the villages are in ruined condition, she ordered the officials concerned to take up repair works to restore them.

Some aged persons informed Collector Sikta that they are facing problems regarding the biometric system to draw their pensions from the banks. Responding to their problems, the Collector ordered the VRA to take them to the banks concerned and help them in getting their pensions.

District agriculture officer informed the Collector that about 1,314.8 hectares of land is under cultivation in the village and about 1,235 farmers were given amount under Rythu Bandhu and 881 members were enrolled under PM Kisan Yojana. Rs 5 lakh compensation has been sanctioned under Rythu Bima scheme to the family members of two farmers, who had died recently.

Collector Sikta Patnail told the villagers that for every 5,000 hectares of land, an agriculture officer is appointed. She told them to consult the officer for whatever problem they have related to agriculture and get solutions.

An officer from education department informed the Collector that one high school and two primary schools are running in Gorrepalli village. They said special classes are being conducted for the 54 students of tenth class, studying in the high school, for achieving 100 per cent results in SSC examinations.

The Collector said that highly qualified teachers are working in the government schools and are providing high standard education to the students. People also should strive hard for increasing the strength of the government schools along with the officials concerned, she suggested.

The officials of health department were ordered to increase the number of normal deliveries in primary health centres and to provide better medical services to the patients.

As per the new Panchayat Raj Act, if any official and public representatives behave negligently, action will be taken against them, the Collector warned.

RDO Shankar Kumar, District Panchayat Raj Officer V Sudarshan, ZP CEO Vinod Kumar, MPTC Anush, District Agriculture Officer T Prasad, District Education Officer Jaganmohan Reddy, Sarpanch Sujatha, MPP Balaji Rao were present along with others.
