The SP felicitated Somayaji with a shawl and garland and handed over the retirement benefits. On the occasion, the SP remembered his services, work and dedication to the department. Stating that the police department will never forget the services of the retired persons, Raju urged the retired cops to meet him if they have any problems.

He said that the police personnel have to work hard day and night leaving their wife and children during their job and now he wished the retired cops to lead a happy life with their family members.

'Awareness on road safety'

Superintendent of Police C Shashidhar Raju created awareness on road safety and the need to follow traffic rules to prevent accidents as part of 31st National Highway Safety Week celebrations at Medipalli village under Nirmal rural police station limits on Friday. He explained road safety rules to motorists and villagers.

He wanted the motorists not to drive after drinking liquor, not to drive vehicle at high speed, and not to become a reason for road accidents. The students were told not to drive their vehicles at high speed and to see the front and rear vehicles when they overtake a vehicle, motorists should take safety precautions when coming on the road.
