A group of villagers including sarpanch's husband attacked the forest officials who interrupted them from illegally transporting stones from the forest.

According to the officials, they found the villagers transporting the stones in two tractors while patrolling near the forest at Mudimanikyam village of Adavidevulapally Mandal in Nalgonda. After the villagers failed to produce valid documents, the officials seized the vehicles and shifted them to Miryalaguda.

The tractor drivers along with a group of villagers armed with sticks arrived approached the forest officials and demanded to return their vehicles. When the officials denied, the villagers attacked them with sticks.

Six forest officers sustained injuries and were shifted to a hospital. The officers lodged a complaint at Adavidevulapally police station. An investigation is underway.
