Karimnagar: As part of the call given by the State committee of Telangana Union of Working Journalists-Indian Journalists Union (TUWJ-IJU), scribes from various corners of the district staged a dharna at the Collectorate in Karimnagar on Monday and organised road blockade demanding the government to solve the issues pertaining to working journalists.

Speaking on the occasion, the association leaders alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is negligent in solving the issues of working journalists. All the promises made to the journalists by the CM are not fulfilled till date. There is no response from the higher officials and the government even after staging agitations at different levels and submitting memorandums to the authorities concerned at village and mandal levels, they said. 'The officials gave a deaf ear to our requests to take our issue to the notice of the government,' they added.

If the government behaves stubbornly in fulfilling the promises made to the working journalists, the agitation will be intensified and will start State-wide movement to teach the government a fitting lesson, they warned.

Later, the members of the association submitted a memorandum to District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed at his chamber at the Collectorate.

TUWJ State president N Shekar, State vice-president Thaduri Karunakar, district unit president Gandla Srinivas, general secretary Janampet Maruthi Swamy, treasurer Sharath, State committee members Anjaneyulu, A Ravinder, Vijaysimha Rao, E Madhukar Reddy, Narasingoju, Mahendra Chary, Vijay Bhaskar, Shukar, Jagan Mohan, Ravindra Chary, Imaam and Asaad were present along with others.
