Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) bandh in Goshamahal Constituency on Friday ended peacefully without any untoward incidents. The bandh call was given by the BJP leaders on Thursday in protest against the city police who obstructed the replacement of Rani Avanti Bai Lodh statue in Jumerath Bazar in Old City.

Mild tension prevailed in Old City when an argument ensued between police officials and Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh and his supporters that resulted in lathi charge on Thursday.

In view of the bandh call, the city police made tight security arrangements in the constituency and deployed large number of police personnel along with the deployment of additional forces to meet any untoward incident in the area.

Police installed pickets in the area and deployed large number of police personnel to take stock of the situation since evening hours on Thursday.

Senior police officials by camping in the area monitored the situation and intensified the patrolling in Dhoolpet, Mangalhat, Jumerath Bazar and other areas in the Goshamahal constituency.

Since morning hours on Friday, police personnel were deployed in large number at important roads and business centres, to foil attempts of BJP leaders in closing the shops forcibly.
