Gadwal: District Collector K Shashanka inaugurated the 'Grameen Loan Mahotsav Mela' programme at the Teru Maidanam grounds in Gadwal district on Wednesday.

The Loan Mahotsav programme was organised by the HDFC bank, marking its 25 years of existence. According to Koppula Rajasekhar Reddy, cluster officer of HDFC bank, Gadwal district, the main objective of the loan mela programme was to create awareness about various financial assistance schemes offered by the bank for farmers, self-help groups, youth and self employment seekers in the district.

Earlier, the District Collector, who was invited as the chief guest, launched the programme by lighting a lamp and cut the ribbon to mark the launch of the loan mela. Gadwal Municipal Commissioner K Narasihmulu along with HDFC bank officials Amith Lakhan Pal, Zonal Officer and Bere Ramakrishna, regional officer also took part in the inaugural programme.

Speaking on the occasion, the District Collector expressed happiness that even private banks like HDFC was expanding itself into rural areas and offering various financial assistance programmes for the farmers, self-help groups and self-employed youth and people who are seeking loans for buying tractors and various other commercial vehicles.

"It is really a big achievement for HDFC bank to successfully celebrate its 25 years of existence.

Being a private bank, it is conducting its services on par with the government banks and has been helping the farmers, youth and self-employed people by offering various financial assistance schemes.

I hope the 'Loan Mahotsav Mela' will create more awareness among the farmers, youth, and self-help groups about the loan facilities and various other financial assistances offered by the bank.

All the farmers must learn and become financially literate and utilise the financial support schemes and opportunities offered by the bank," observed the Collector.

He urged the bank officials to provide all information to the farmers, women groups and youth about crop loans, tractor loans, self-employment loans, loans for women groups and other financial assistance schemes.

Later, he gave away cheques to some of the farmers, youth and women groups who received loans from the bank.
