A 12-year-old boy studying Class 7 in a school at Chandnagar was allegedly thrashed by the principal for not doing homework.

According to the boy's mother Padma, the principal beaten up their son with a stick and belt, leaving injuries all over the body. "When we confronted the principal, he admitted to committing the mistake and promised to pay the fees for the academic year," said Padma adding that the school has returned the fees paid this year.

However, the principal said that he had beaten up the boy and not punished severely. He also denied that the boy have injuries all over the body.

Meanwhile, child activists demanded action against the school and principal for thrashing the child.
