Saifabad: A team of BC leaders led by Gujja Krishna met Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy at her office on Wednesday and submitted a memorandum, urging the government to issue notification for conducting TET exam for recruiting teachers. Speaking to media after the meeting, Gujja Krishna lamented that the state government had not issued notification in the last three years. As per the central government instructions and Right to Education Act, the notification should be issued once in every six months, but the state government had not implemented the Act.

Candidates who clear TET will be eligible for recruitment only for three years but as the examination had not been conducted for the last three years, there are no eligible candidates for the recruitment, he said. There are about 6 lakh candidates who have passed B.Ed, D.Ed, Telugu Pandit and Hindi Pandit in the state and they are losing their employment opportunities as the exam was not conducted, he added. The team urged the minister to implement right to education act in the state and issue notification for TET.

Among those who met the minister were Neela Venkatesh, Vemula Ramakrishna, Ramalingam Srinivas, Saritha and others.
