Kukatpally: BJP Medchal district president Madhavaram Kantha Rao on Wednesday condemned the police for the lathi-charge on and arrest of the ABVP activists during the 'Chalo Assembly' rally during the day to protest against the government's negligent attitude towards education.

Rao stated that the rally was organised to demand immediate appointment of Vice-Chancellors for State universities, filling of 50,000 vacant teacher posts and lecturer posts in junior colleges. He wanted the government to immediately conceded the demands and release the fee reimbursement dues.

Rao stated that the non-release of fee reimbursement was leading to denial of scholarships to students. Hence, he wanted the amounts to be made available to students immediately. The BJP leader pledged the party's support to ABVP.
